Due to the closure of the Virgin Money Giving fundraising platform, we transferred our fundraising to this page. Sadly it doesn't reflect the enormous response we previously had in our fundraising efforts or show the total raised from VMG.

HOWEVER we've now completed our Atlantic challenge and have to date raised £151,870.41 (including a £10k offline pledge) SMASHING our initial £100,000 and subsequent £150,000 targets.......and still going strong. Let's see what else we can do for stem4 and teenage mental health! Thank you all for being SIMPLY AMAZING!

Our Story - In December 2021 we (Tim and Simon) will embark on a life-changing challenge to row the Atlantic and raise in excess of £100,000 for our chosen charity @stem4org to support positive mental health in teenagers.

We are not rowers, just two friends with careers in business and finance looking to break out of our comfort zones, to push our limits and raise some money in the process for a great charity. Mental health impacts every one of us, and our mental health will arguably be more important than our physical health over the two months (or so) of the row. It is likely the process will forever change our lives, and  positively help many teenagers change theirs as well from the money we raise.

Our chosen charity is www.stem4.org.uk - We are fully self-funding our adventure so 100% of sponsorship/donations is going directly to the charity. We are delighted to be supporting stem4 who create digital self-support resources through award winning downloadable apps, alongside providing face to face conferences for schools, parents and health professionals.

  • £100 can put the ‘Asking for Help’ booklet into the hands of 258 young people;
  • £200 can run the website for 244 days to provide access to vital resources and self-support;
  • £1,000 can maintain a potentially life-saving app to support 173,611 young people.

So what's next

We've got a boat (a good start) and have been training hard but there is a long way to go... 3,000 nautical miles to be precise. Our journey is well on its way already.  Its going to be tough, but we both believe that preparation, teamwork, the ability to laugh at ourselves (#nakedrowing #poobucket) and both mental and physical resilience will get us across the Atlantic. You can share it with us.
